Assessments occurred at 'study entry' (start of Phase I), 'baseline' (start of Phase II), '6 months' (post-test) and will occur at '12 months' (follow-up; primary endpoint). The primary outcome is weight change in Phase II (i.e. from 'baseline' at 12 months after randomization). Secondary outcomes include waist circumference (umbilicus and narrowest), blood pressure, body composition, objectively measured physical activity, sedentary time, portion size, dietary intake, quality of life, depressive symptoms, and behavioural cognitions. Costing data will be collected for cost-effectiveness analysis. Generalised linear mixed models (intention-to-treat) will assess outcomes for treatment (maintenance vs. control), time (baseline, 6-month and 12-month) and the treatment-by-time interaction. This will be the first study to evaluate a male-only, gender-targeted weight loss maintenance program. Results will provide evidence regarding feasible and theoretically-driven obesity treatments for men with potential for long-term impact and widespread dissemination.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 13:39:49 AEST ]]> Alcohol control policies in Indigenous communities: a qualitative study of the perceptions of their effectiveness among service providers, stakeholders and community leaders in Queensland (Australia) https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29368 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:48:39 AEST ]]> Here we go again: cider's turn to highlight anomalies in Australia's alcohol taxation system https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20052 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:03:51 AEST ]]> Study protocol - alcohol management plans (AMPs) in remote indigenous communities in Queensland: their impacts on injury, violence, health and social indicators and their cost-effectiveness https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16775 Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:26:19 AEST ]]> Cost-effectiveness of follow-up contact for a postal survey: a randomised controlled trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:10918 Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:32:32 AEST ]]> A systematic review of suicide prevention interventions targeting indigenous peoples in Australia, United States, Canada and New Zealand https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14825 Wed 11 Apr 2018 09:17:44 AEST ]]> Benefit cost analysis of three skin cancer public education mass-media campaigns implemented in New South Wales, Australia https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30013 Wed 10 Nov 2021 15:05:21 AEDT ]]> Smoking, quitting, and the provision of smoking cessation support: a survey of orthopaedic trauma patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30830 Wed 04 Sep 2019 09:56:24 AEST ]]> Smoke-free recovery from trauma surgery: a pilot trial of an online smoking cessation program for orthopaedic trauma patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28950 Wed 02 Oct 2019 10:32:51 AEST ]]> Comorbid tobacco and other substance use and symptoms of anxiety and depression among hospitalised orthopaedic trauma patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35788 2 tests. Multivariate logistic regression explored variables related to tobacco smoking. Results: Eight hundred nineteen patients participated. Over one-fifth (21.8%) identified as a current smoker, half (51.8%) reported consuming alcohol at hazardous levels in the last 12 months, and about 10% stated that they had used cannabis in the last 30 days (9.7%), or experienced symptoms of either anxiety (12.4%), or depression (12.9%) in the last two weeks. Over one-fifth of current tobacco smokers (21.8%) reported drinking heavily in the last 12 months and using cannabis recently. Males, with a lower educational attainment, who were unmarried, had used cannabis recently, and report drinking heavily were more likely to be current smokers. Conclusions: Health behaviour interventions addressing comorbidities are warranted among the orthopaedic trauma population given the high rate of comorbidity and impact these may have on recovery.]]> Tue 26 Nov 2019 15:16:09 AEDT ]]> Top priorities for health service improvements among Australian oncology patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39121 Tue 10 May 2022 17:21:35 AEST ]]> Factors associated with Quitline and pharmacotherapy utilisation among low-socioeconomic status smokers https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47397 Tue 08 Aug 2023 15:46:10 AEST ]]> The effectiveness of a web-based computer-tailored physical activity intervention using Fitbit activity trackers: Randomized trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:34889 Tue 03 Sep 2019 18:19:45 AEST ]]> Smoking and finances: baseline characteristics of low income daily smokers in the FISCALS cohort https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30663 Thu 31 May 2018 11:47:43 AEST ]]> Scope and quality of economic evaluations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health programs: a systematic review https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52759 Thu 26 Oct 2023 12:40:35 AEDT ]]> The impact of a suicide prevention strategy on reducing the economic cost of suicide in the New South Wales construction industry https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29187 Thu 24 Mar 2022 11:31:49 AEDT ]]> Identification of higher hospital costs and more frequent admissions among mid-aged Australian women who self-report diabetes mellitus https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28367 Thu 13 Jan 2022 10:28:56 AEDT ]]> Exploring community-based options for reducing youth crime https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46051 Thu 10 Nov 2022 10:18:12 AEDT ]]> Effect of Cytisine vs Varenicline on Smoking Cessation A Randomized Clinical Trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:40305 Thu 07 Jul 2022 16:14:44 AEST ]]> Community-based alcohol counselling: a randomized clinical trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1565 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:30:45 AEDT ]]> Estimated impacts of alternative Australian alcohol taxation structures on consumption, public health and government revenues https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14684 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:19:08 AEDT ]]> Critique of an economic evaluation using the Drummond checklist (editorial) https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:10269 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:13:07 AEDT ]]> The relationship between risky alcohol consumption, crime and traffic accidents in Australian rural communities https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:10708 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:12:14 AEDT ]]> The potential cost-effectiveness of general practitioner delivered brief intervention for alcohol misuse: evidence from rural Australia https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:17114 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:02:27 AEDT ]]> Developing an alcohol policy assessment toolkit: application in the western pacific https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:17352 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:01:42 AEDT ]]> Assessing patterns of use of cardio-protective polypill component medicines in Australian women https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:19778 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:56:52 AEDT ]]> Randomized controlled trial of mailed personalized feedback for problem drinkers in the emergency department: the short-term impact https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:21192 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:52:33 AEDT ]]> Does evidence influence policy?
